The iQuality system is considered an enterprise solution
in that it consists of several pieces of software
and hardware working together to accomplish a unified
goal. The following section briefly outlines each
component and the technology it employs.
iQuality PDA Application
The iQuality PDA application is a sophisticated piece
of software that completely replaces the paper-based
iQuality information gathering currently used in food
service operations. iQuality contains many powerful
features not found in other systems including:
- Direct temperature acquisition from integrated
hardware
- iButton (tag reader) support to prevent “dry-labbing”
- Support for complex multi-step processes such
as cooling
- Real-time corrective action prompting when potential
problems are detected
- Rule-based critical limit detection based on
actual restaurant menu items
- Direct access on the PDA to policies and standard
operating procedures
Restaurant PC
Because iQuality is based on the Microsoft .NET platform,
no additional software is required on the computers
located at each restaurant. Simply install the standard
synchronization software that comes with the PDA and
the iQuality system on the PDA will do the rest!
iQuality Server Application
The iQuality Server consists of Microsoft .NET web
pages and services running under the industry standard
Microsoft IIS web server. The server communicates
with web browsers and the PDAs using standard HTTP
protocols to avoid issues associated with corporate
firewalls and VPNs. The iQuality Server also utilizes
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services to provide
web based reporting as well as automated email distribution
of reports.
Microsoft SQL Server
The Microsoft SQL database server acts as the central
repository for information of the entire iQuality system.
iQuality Administrator PC
Intuitive wizard-based interfaces are provided using
a standard web browser on any PC to configure all
aspects of the iQuality system across even the largest
organizations. Access to administrative features can
be granted or limited for users depending upon their
job function.
